Managing in the muddle - sorry, matrix!
Mike has recently been very busy on a series of European 'Managing the Matrix' programmes for a big pharmaceutical company with his new business exercise designed to simulate decision-making at a fast pace and where lines of responsibility are not clear. It's also working well as a team-build on Director events. We're reminded of a saying that ‘the management skill of the 1990s is knowing what to do, when you don't know what to do'. Sounds as though it’s still valid in 2004.

Silence in court!
Graham has been working with actors, employing theatre techniques to help clients manage poor performance and deal with conflict. He has used a similar approach to help newly appointed mentors to think about the behavioural aspects of their role. His finest hour came a few weeks ago when he donned a powdered wig to 'give his High Court judge' to a room of court managers.

Making an Impact
Jacquie has taken her voice coaching work, initially planned for call centre staff, to a wider market with a programme for senior professionals needing to increase their impact and authority in meetings and conferences. We think it will also work well with managers and directors newly appointed to more senior roles, having to find a way to motivate and enthuse others with their ideas.

Triple-Win Analysis
This newsletter goes out with a flyer from Mike Berners Lee looking at a way to combine three benefits – to customers, to staff, and to the environment. We think this makes good sense on all three fronts and we'll appreciate your thoughts and comments on it.
